You register for an online class just as you would register for any class at LAVC. However, you must contact the instructor via email prior to the start of class for log on instructions for the online class. (Back to Top) What skills/equipment do I need to take your online classes? Students must have a high-speed computer connection and intermediate to advanced computer skills in order to take the online and hybrid classes. In addition, students must have access to a digital camera and photo editing software. (Back to Top) What is the computer skills test? The online computer skills test is given to all students in my online classes during the first week of class to determine if they have the appropriate computer and skills to succeed in an online course. Please select the computer skills test from the top navigation menu to see sample of the current computer skills test. (Back to Top) Does the department have a tutoring lab? Tutoring is available in the Earth Science and Anthropology Department each semester and during winter and summer intersession classes. Typical hours during the regular semester are Monday - Thursday from 2:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in MS 113. The tutoring lab operates at reduced hours during the winter and summer intercessions. (Back to Top) Are computers available on campus? Computers are available in Engineering 117, the LAIR Library Building, the Lion's Den in the Cafeteria Building, and the Writing Center H 100 & 102. Computers are also available in the Earth Science and Anthropology tutoring lab, but are reserved for students who are taking and/or completing classes/assignments in the Earth Science/Anthropology Department.
