Oceanography 1 Lecture Traditional
Oceanography 1 is the traditional face-to-face
Introduction to Oceanography lecture class and covers
chemical, biological, physical and geological
oceanography. There is a field trip requirement
for the course that can be completed by taking a boat
cruise or visiting an aquarium.

Oceanography 1 Lecture - Online
The Oceanography 1 is the online
version of Introduction to Oceanography and is taught
completely online. Students who register for the
online course are required to have a working email
address and must send an email to the instructor before
to the beginning of the online class for log in
instructions. Students are required to complete a
field trip and post a virtual field trip report online.
Local students may attend the boat cruise with the
students and instructor from LAVC.

Oceanography 10 Laboratory
Oceanography 10 is the Physical
Oceanography laboratory class that accompanies
Oceanography 1. Students will complete laboratory
exercises in combination with field trips which are
designed to improve understanding of oceanographic
processes.

Physical Geology Lecture
Physical Geology covers the
principles of geology including topics such as plate
tectonics, minerals, rocks, groundwater, deserts,
rivers, and glaciation. Emphasis is placed on geologic
phenomena that catastrophically affect man's environment
such as volcanoes, earthquakes, and landslides.

Lecture Online
Geology 6 is the Physical Geology
Laboratory that accompanies the Physical Geology
lecture. Students study geologic and topographic
maps, aerial photographs, rocks and minerals, and
participate in several field trips.

Introduction to Planetary Science
is an interdisciplinary class covering remote sensing,
impact craters, surface erosion, atmospheric phenomena,
tectonics, volcanism, and recent discoveries from
unmanned and human exploration of the solar system.
